I’m Josh.

I write Front Porch Journal, where I discuss nature, books, wild animals, relationships, mythology, podcasts, food, deep time, travel—whatever interests me, which is just about everything.

I started the newsletter in 2021, after my diagnosis with chronic myeloid leukemia. I’m kicking ass these days. As Charles Bukowski said, you have to die a few times before you can really live.

I reside in the Adirondack mountains of upstate New York. I hunt for food. I swim in frozen lakes. I run many miles every year. (My next big rip is running across the Grand Canyon, twice, in one day.)

All my work is meant to entertain you, edify you, and make you laugh and think and maybe even cry.

Art for Front Porch Journal is made by Nick Peria.

Best,

Josh.
